We’d love for you to come and join us on the evening of Thursday 4th December 2014 to celebrate the switching on of the Christmas Lights in Tetbury, and for Tetbury Late Night Christmas Shopping!

Browse the beautiful and rare works that the Gallery has to offer, enjoy a glass of something warming, and a nibble of something festive, soak up the atmosphere, enjoy the carol singing and Bands, and maybe even pick up a few unique Christmas presents that are still on your list to track down, like this vibrant Original painting of the 2014 Formula 1 Champion Lewis Hamilton, by Artist Juan Carlos Ferrigno – enthusiasts who watched Lewis’s recent BBC Breakfast interview will know that Lewis has vowed to retain the number 44 on his car in 2015, breaking with the tradition of adopting the number 1 title defence numbering.

Late Night Shopping & Lights Switch-On Timetable (Courtesy of Christmas in Tetbury)

4.00pm – 8.00pm

Church Street from Old Brewery lane to Long Street will be closed to traffic (a traffic diversion will apply)

4.00pm – 5.30pm

Santa’s Grotto will be located in the Market House just opposite the Gallery


A ‘torchlight’ procession will assemble at St Marys’ Church (glow sticks and carol sheets will be available if you’d like to take part and if your children would like to dress up as Nativity characters, they are encouraged to do so


The procession leaves the Church to proceed to the Market House where there will be school choir and community carols prior to the switching on of the lights


The lights will be switched on by Santa and local competition winning school children in front of the Market House

6.00pm onwards

There will be late night shopping to the sound of various Bands, including stalls under and around the Market House and an Arts Frenzy dance troupe performing in Church Street.

6.15 – 8.00pm

Santa’s Grotto opens once again in the Market House (entry £2/child).
